Oils on Canvas Board - 20 x 16 inches

This is based upon a real farm between Plumpton and Penrith. I had seen this farm a number of times while travelling along the A6 but despite wanting to capture it with a sketch or photo I always failed to stop, usually because I was shooting past trying to get home.

I just loved its location under the hill with its warm sandstone buildings. But it was only when passing at sunny havest time that my eye was captured by the barley and wheat shining out against the greens of the fields, hills and trees, I knew I had to stop and take a photo.

I am really pleased I did as I really do like this painting, even though like all artists I may have changed the landscape a little and added some bits to improve the composition. I feel it is very much In line with the wonderful tradition of British landscape painting.
