Watercolour and white ink

An amazing little stream that defies the normal trend of waterways. When the main rivers like the Eden are down to the bare bones during dry summers this little stream continues to run well.

The catchment is off the nearby Geltsdale RSPB reserve draining the Pennines it is sits upon. Little or no peat cutting and careful management for the reserve means the spongy mosses and peat remain full and its water is slowly released over longer periods than normal cultivated land.

This little ink and watercolour sketch tries to capture intense late summer sun streaming through the trees and bouncing off the stream.
